Teradata Expands Global Presence, Opens in the Philippines

Offers data warehouses, analytic expertise for companies that compete on intelligence

Makati, Philippines , November 27, 2008 -  Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC),  the world’s largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, today announced that it has opened an office in the Philippines and appointed Lyndon Lacanienta to the new post of country manager for Teradata. Lacanienta, with a strong background in enterprise technology, said he intends to rapidly grow resources for customer support, sales and management consulting in the context of the rising global demand for enterprise intelligence – driven by the most powerful data warehouses.

Teradata has recently won new retail and transportation customers in the Philippines and is working to help them implement and quickly realize business value from their new data warehouses. Lacanienta said he and his new staff are deeply engaged in helping area companies address their requirements for enterprise intelligence across other markets, including communications, media and entertainment, financial services, insurance, government and public services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, hospitality and gaming.

“The market outlook for companies in the Philippines is promising despite global economic pressures, and the regional need for enterprise-class intelligence is strong,” said Dennis Samuel, Teradata area vice president, Southeast Asia and India. “Teradata is uniquely positioned to offer local companies everything needed to get started in data warehousing, including the Teradata® Database, a Teradata platform, software and consulting services.”

Metro Cebu in the Philippines was recently ranked by investment firm Tholons as number one, above Shanghai and Beijing, as the leading destination for outsourcing of information technology and business process services. The attractiveness of the Philippines is the result of its quality workforce, cost and availability of infrastructure resources, Lacanienta said. He sees significant market growth potential in the region.

“Teradata’s recognized leadership and experience with the world’s foremost business names represent a powerful value proposition for companies that seek advanced analytical capabilities, platform scalability and real-time performance,” said Lacanienta. “Teradata is a virtual requirement today for smart companies with complex data needs that must compete on intelligence.”

Teradata provides the software, hardware and services companies need to integrate operational, customer and financial data from across the enterprise to produce actionable intelligence in real time.  This capability helps decision-makers and front-line workers achieve new productivity levels, better manage business complexities, and respond to business events as they happen.
