IP Converge Selects Asia Netcom for Regional Connectivity
Pan-regional service provider to supply dedicated bandwidth to IP Converge’s managed network security services hub
MANILA, 29 November, 2006 – Asia Netcom announced today that it has signed an agreement with IP Converge for the provision of internet bandwidth over a dedicated private leased circuit. This directly connects IP Converge’s data center facility in the Philippines to its Hong Kong point-of presence (PoP).
Under the agreement, Asia Netcom will deliver a 155 Mbps standard Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) link over a STM-1 IPL from Manila to Hong Kong, giving IP Converge direct connectivity to all major Internet destinations in Asia as well as to the US.
“Services such as managed security require real-time, high-performance bandwidth that traditional service providers cannot deliver,” said Bill Barney, CEO, Asia Netcom. “Our leading edge MPLS technology platform, combined with a comprehensive portfolio of services, enables us to deliver innovative solutions to our customers in a timely and efficient manner.”
Added Agnes Gervacio, country manager for the Philippines, Asia Netcom: “We expect that the dramatic growth of digital applications emanating from countries such as the Philippines will drive our IP business going forward. As such, we continue to enhance our network to support managed services for our customers.”
IP Converge, a leading Philippine provider of IP-based managed services, chose Asia Netcom to support its Hong Kong PoP, which serves as the international hub for their Managed Network Security services. IP Converge Hong Kong hub has been designed, in partnership with Prolexic Technologies, to combat cyber-threats such as Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed DoS attacks.
“The connectivity to our Hong Kong PoP requires redundant intra-Asia focused network and in this regard, Asia Netcom’s IP Platform provides the ideal infrastructure,” said Warren K. Liu, CTO, IP Converge. “It makes sense to control our traffic flow within networks that we work a lot with, to ensure end-user quality. Our Hong Kong PoP allows our Philippine and Asia Pacific clients to experience enhanced connectivity to their regional offices and to other mission-critical application providers within Asia.”
Asia Netcom’s regional IP backbone consists of over 70 Gbps of intra-Asia and trans-Pacific capacity. Backed by an extensive portfolio of peering relationships in key Asian and global markets, Asia Netcom’s Internet backbone now offers one of the best Internet connectivity performances in the Asia Pacific region.
